A holiday home in Puntaldia

Sardinia’s spectacular peninsula on the Emerald Coast

On Sardinia’s glorious northeast coast, 20 kms from Olbia airport and 10 kms from San Teodoro, Puntaldia faces the same stretch of azure Mediterranean Sea as Porto Cervo and Porto Rotondo. However, unlike those star-studded resorts further north in the same Gallura region, Puntaldia flies delightfully under the radar.

This is a place of exceptional natural beauty. Puntaldia is a natural peninsula, over 80 hectares in all, looking directly over a protected marine reserve to the small islands of Molara and Tavolara. The high limestone cliffs of Tavolara make a dramatic and notable landmark. Puntaldia lies at the northernmost point of La Cinta, an arching ribbon of white sand dunes backed by banks of juniper that makes up one of the longest and most scenic coastlines on an island of spectacular beaches. From La Cinta, cross over the lagoon estuary, past the resident flamingos, herons and kingfishers, and the small coves and shady pine trees of Puntaldia capture all the beauty but with far fewer crowds.

Sardinia’s crystalline water

What makes a holiday in Puntaldia so special? First of all, there’s so much to do.  With La Cinta to the south and Lu Impostu and Cala Brandinchi to the north, there’s no shortage of beautiful white-sand beaches. Water-based fun on the peninsula takes in diving, snorkelling, boat rental and windsurfing while the 385 yachts moored in Marina di Puntaldia have some of Europe’s cleanest waters to explore. Time your visit for one of the regular and well-attended annual regattas to see a true spectacle. Back on land, there’s a small tennis club, mini-football pitch and a testing nine-hole golf course at Golf Club Puntaldia along with a driving range and clubhouse.

Standout properties are another reason to love Puntaldia and Rebecca in Sardinia has two of the finest among her rental portfolio of dazzling homes. Villa Aldia One and Villa Aldia White sit side by side, within walking distance of the beaches, marina, golf club and shops and restaurants of Puntaldia and both offer spacious elegant accommodation with wonderful sea views. Villa Aldia One has five bedrooms and five bathrooms, sleeping ten guests and Villa Aldia White has four bedrooms and four bathrooms sleeping up to eight adults. The villas can interconnect, allowing larger groups of up to eighteen adults to share in total luxury.

Villa Aldia One is a fabulous holiday home, set in Mediterranean gardens with an alluring swimming pool and comfortable sofas under shaded verandas, all looking across the sea to Tavolara.

Villa Aldia White has a special design heritage as the work of famed Italian architect Simone Micheli, a graduate from the Florence School of Architecture, where he now teaches. Micheli set up his own design company in 1990 with the avowed aim to “build sustainable works to qualify the landscape” and at Villa Aldia White, that landscape centres on panoramic views of Tavolara.

Both properties are supremely stylish homes, furnished with panache. Both have air conditioning, heating, Wi-Fi and four hours of daily housekeeping with additional staff available on request.

Employing trusted and experienced staff, Rebecca in Sardinia will arrange excursions to explore the island. Head inland to discover remote, rural Sardinia, starting with the olive groves at Oliena, 70 minutes away. The journey takes you to the Supramonte Mountain range, passing through one of Sardinia’s famous Blue Zones, where residents’ lifespan regularly outperforms anywhere else in Europe. Guests can stay the night in the olive grove with a carefully arranged itinerary that includes hiking to the Bronze Age village at Tiscali in the Lanaittu Valley, sampling the local Nepente di Oliena red wine and kayaking in the crystal-clear spring waters at Su Gologone.

Ready for an Italian island adventure in supreme luxury? Let Rebecca in Sardinia arrange your next holiday, combining the coastal wonder of Puntaldia with the island’s wild and rugged inland beauty. From introducing an in-house chef for a celebratory meal to organising a full itinerary of adventure and action, Rebecca in Sardinia will turn a holiday into a truly unique memory starting with the best-in-class rental villas.
